Like any worldly, cultured Manhattanite, I settled in to an 11:30 re-run of "Two and a Half Men" last night after a full day of the Madison Avenue rag-trade. I was thrilled to see a new ad for Bowflex, which is apparently still "crushin' it" in the home gym market. My best guess is that I first saw an ad for Bowflex sometime around 1992, potentially during an episode of "MacGyver." (Every once in a while a memory is so awesome it blows your mind, and the feeling of looking forward to first run episodes of MacGyver almost moved me to tears, which if you didn't know, can be combined with a little loose tobacco and a foil gum wrapper to create a totally-safe pocket grenade!!!) The new Bowflex ad was strikingly similar to the old Bowflex ad, and I wondered if there had really been ANY technological advancements made to Bowflex since the beginnings of the Clinton administration. Even the dude using Bowflex looked similar to the original dude, begging the question...is that SON of BOWFLEX??? If you do the math, we're talking about a 16 year gap here - it's not outta the question. SO stay tuned for my next installment, where I explore possibilities for Son of Bowflex's mother (lookout, Nicole Eggert!) as well as the most pretentious of all home gyms, The Nordic Track.

Two and a Half Men, what great entertainment. I'm actually watching an episode right now. My two favorite lines from the show. "I'm not old, I'm just not a yogurt dispenser" and "You're only as old as the women you feel".
