I’m not much of one to run with a friend… but my best friend while running is most certainly my music. Working towards the long runs, I have to have some new (and old classic) music to help me get through – and zone out to! Along with blogging gabout my marathon training, I also write for a music blog called makesyoucooler.com. For this I have to find new and upcoming bands to check out and review. That means, I also got to head to Lollapalooza and sit on the side of the stage to check out some of the best indie bands around. I had a great time (and needless to say, I have to delay my long run for the weekend!) But it made me think about how important music is in my running life. When a great song comes on I certainly get a spring in my step – and running stride! So I thought I would share some of my favorite music to run to with you! And feel free to add some of your own if you think about it!
Bloc Party – This modern love – great for a 8 min. pace – that’s sprinting for me!
B.o.B – Magic, Along with Airplanes
Hot Chip – Ready for the Floor, along with any other Hot Chip song. They are electric and upbeat and sometimes repetitive which is great for zoning out on the long runs.
Wakey! Wakey! – Almost Everything and Light Outside – the whole album is amazing really!
Yacht – Fun and energetic
Matt and Kim – Every song is amazing – Especially ‘Don’t Slow Down’ to keep you sprinting, if you slowed down you would really feel like you let them down!
Yeahsayers – Just as good as Passion Pit, not to mention Passion Pit’s amazing album!
My new favorite
*Colorfire – like Postal Service country style with a Rascal Flatts vocals!
