Nobel Prize for Fitness

Nobel Prize for Fitness

To our knowledge a Nobel Prize for Health and Fitness doesn’t yet exist. Considering the current state of society, it seems no award would be more timely or appropriate. No award could do more to help people motivate themselves and provide inspiration for healthy, positive lifestyles. Therefore, it is with great honor that, with all due humility, we nominate ourselves, Holosfitness.com, for the yet-to-be-established Nobel Prize for Health and Fitness.

In a sense, a Nobel Prize for Health and Fitness would encompass the most celebrated aspects of all the current Nobel Prizes. While we may be conditioned to think that the Nobel Peace Prize is the ultimate acknowledgement of efforts to bring justice and tranquility to the world, this award would be less necessary if we could promote a better sense of inner peace and personal health.

It may seem as if a Nobel Prize for Health and Fitness would fall into the foundation’s current category of Medicine and Physiology, but the ideals behind the Health and Fitness prize represent a much more simplistic goal. The Nobel Prize for Health and Fitness would be about personal health. It would be about inspiring people around the world to lead healthy, active lives through simple lifestyle changes. For example, it wouldn’t be about finding a cure for cancer, but instead helping to prevent cancer through healthy diet and exercise.

Perhaps the most obvious overlap would be with the Nobel Prize for Economics. Is there a more convincing economic argument than the need to place greater emphasis on health around the world? At a time when the U.S. alone is contemplating a nearly $900 Billion health-care initiative, does it not make more economic sense to focus on individual fitness and the enhancement of personal health? Over the long-term there is no better way to decrease health-care related costs.

So it is with great honor that we accept this nomination as the inaugural recipient of the yet-to-be-established, Nobel Prize for Health and Fitness. As Alfred Nobel himself would say, “That’s dynamite”.
