I am constantly meeting moms who are looking for the answer to eliminating the mommy bulge. The key to rebuilding the abs after childbirth is to work the deep transverse muscles (these work like a girdle straight across the midsection) first to build a foundation before working the rest of the muscles, especially the obliques.
You can work these muscles by sitting up straight on a resistance ball and squeezing the belly button into the lower back and then releasing. This exercise can be done throughout pregnancy and immediately after childbirth (give a little extra time for c-section incision healing) to start the tummy rebuilding process.
