I like using spin classes to use to train for triathlons because its a good group environment. It causes me to push it and possibly work harder than I would if I were biking alone or simply on an exercise bike
Muscle Groups: Lower Body
You usually have to bring your own shoes (cleats) for spin class, so don't just expect to hop on a bike.
I like to find a full class where there are a lot of people so its easier to push myself. I'm pretty competitive, so I like to make sure I'm going faster and working harder than anyone else.
I specifically chose "hill training" classes so that you are working s hard as possible and different parts of your legs. I don't just want to sit in the saddle all class, so if you go to a hill training class your going to get your money's worth.
The best spin classes mix up the speed, resistance, and elevation to give a good overall bike workout that would replicate a real race. It really depends on the individual instructor.
