Fifteen years ago I started working out at 115 lbs. I didn't feel good about how thin I was and simply decided to do something about it. I started with machines. But it wasn't until I started lifting free weights that I started gaining mass. Right now, I weigh between 170 - 175 and 7.5% body fat. My current goal is 185 with 6% body fat. I have a rather intense workout that includes resistance work/free weights (75%), cardio (15%) and swimming (10%).
I love the fact that exercise is a great way to relieve stress, I stay in great shape and I enjoy focusing on self improvement. All of that helps give me a sense of self confidence.
I make certain to plan fitness into my life. I work out 4-5 days per wk. The days I don't go to the gym, I spend some time biking, kayaking or playing some type of sport. Exercise is a great way to spend time with friends.
A few words for you, be careful from whom you receive your workout advise. There are plenty of people in the gym doing plenty of things that will get them hurt. Do your homework and take your time.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Take it from someone in the medical field... STAY OFF THE STEROIDS!! The short cuts will catch up to you and you will regret it!!
My biggest downfall is my diet! I have a light appetite so I eat small meals, but several of them. And I have a HUGE sweet tooth (especially for chocolate chip cookies, brownies and chocolate anything). So if I can hone in on that, I'm fairly sure I could make some drastic changes. Anyone have any good recipes to go long with my fitness routine?

The mission to "transform youth sports so sports can transform youth," has been a personal and professional goal for the past 10 years. In 2006 I wrote and proposed a business plan for the board of a non-profit athletic association to build a “new arm” to their existing entity. The proposed budget was fully funded and with myself at the helm as the director, my tiny consulting business, “Peak Fitness” (a sole proprietorship consulting a non-profit), executed the initial rollout for 2006- 2008. I passed the torch in June of 2008 to a member of my team, and the program is running strongly to this day, reaching the families of Chicago. I have made Heath and Wellness the field of choice for my life’s work because it has an unmatched ability to bring milestone moments of learning and growth to the lives of children and their parents. Here’s what I bring to the table:10 years coaching multiple sports and running fitness programs (club, recreational, community ed, non/profit and for pro/fit sector), 3 years of program development program with the philosophy; "lifetime of success built through sport" (built membership up from 0 to over 1000), Extremely passionate about bringing a proactive appraoch to health and wellness throughout the community for ages 0-80
