The Change for the Better program was created by Orlandus Thomas (a physical education and health instruction at Gary Comer College Prep on Chicago's South Side), Anthony Czapla (Owner, Catalyst Sports Performance), and Chef Glenn Brooks. Mr. Thomas has developed a curriculum to promote health, fitness, and nutrition in the lives of America's youth. In particular, Mr. Thomas has focused the program on the overlooked students whose schools have had to eliminate physical education and gym-type programs. Mr. Thomas' program primarily focuses on ways of preventing childhood obesity among minorities, and is a way for kids to stay active and healthy, no matter what the environment. Mr. Thomas and Mr. Czapla's program also is a fusion of the We Can! program (Ways to Enhance Children's Activities and Nutrition) and Michelle Obama's Let's Move Campaign. Orlandus Thomas and Anthony Czapla have for the past 5 years held numerous health/fitness/nutrition seminars throughout the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area that have served the ranges of youth to seniors at various schools, youth centers, and churches.
